Stella Lopez, Psy.D.

Dr. Stella Lopez is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. She is a bilingual provider offering services in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Lopez is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and culturally attuned therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. Her clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, adjustment and acculturation concerns, sleep disturbances, behavioral challenges, parent–child conflict, and peer or bullying-related concerns. She also has extensive experience in pediatric and adult medical settings, with a focus on supporting individuals managing chronic health conditions and navigating medical coping.

A significant part of Dr. Lopez’s work has centered on supporting patients who have experienced single-incident or chronic trauma. Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, emphasizing safety, trust, and resilience-building. She draws from multiple evidence-based interventions, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has trained in CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Integration, and Narrative Therapy.

Dr. Lopez earned her PsyD from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015. She completed her internship at Youth and Family Services (YFS) at Community Healthlink, a subsidiary of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and later completed her postdoctoral training at YFS as a staff therapist with Victim Services while piloting an integrated mental health program at UMass Plumley Village Health Services. She has been providing services in the Richmond area since 2021.
