
Helen Williams, LCSW
Helen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Helen’s background and experience include working in medical settings and child welfare systems (foster care and adoption).
As a RPT™, Helen works with children, adolescents, and families using the natural language of play to express thoughts and feelings and process life stressors. Helen specializes in providing counseling services with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families, to include working with neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, sensory differences, and developmental disabilities) with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues related to anxiety, grief and loss, attachment, life adjustment issues, and trauma. She is dedicated to offering neurodiversity-affirming strategies and approaches.
Helen works from an integrative therapy approach using various theoretical influences, a strengths-based perspective, the therapeutic powers of play, and a relationship-based approach. Helen has received extensive training in the areas of attachment, play therapy, and trauma-focused treatment. In addition, Helen is a certified AutPlay® Therapy Provider and a Being With Practitioner.
