Anjali Gowda, Ph.D.
Dr. Gowda is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in early childhood assessment, assessment of developmental disabilities, and psychotherapy. She operates from an integrative framework incorporating cognitive-behavioral, family systems, attachment, play-based, and parent-child interactional interventions. She focuses on strengthening parent-child relationships and individual skill development. She has a special interest and commitment to working with children and families who have experienced trauma. Dr. Gowda has specialized training to evaluate children under the ages of 5 and also in administering the ADOS to assess autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Gowda earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. She began her graduate training and earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She then completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC) in Richmond. Her predoctoral internship training consisted of work with both inpatient and outpatient populations of children ages 3-18. Her postdoctoral training focused on assessment and treatment of developmental disabilities.
